Are you concerned about Child Support?
In California, child support is either set by agreement by the two parents or by a judge if an agreement cannot be reached. Setting an amount by agreement and presenting it to the court has its advantages, as long as both parties have taken every factor into consideration.
Child support is certainly based on the parent’s income, but there are many other factors that play a part in determining the correct amount. Some factors impacting support are custodial time spent with the children, mortgage interest payments, child care expenses, and medical expenses.
I highly recommend that before you agree to a support amount that you contact a qualified attorney to determine what child support you should pay or receive based on court guidelines. If you would like me to assist you, I’ll put your information into a support calculator that incorporates all of the standards that have been set in California. That will provide a guideline amount which you can use to make the right decision.
Getting child support right involves more than just a mechanical application of the formula. Achieving the right child support amount usually requires the help of an experienced child support attorney.

Modifications in Child Support
I believe that parents entitled to receive child support should receive no less than the amounts set under the guidelines, unless both parents agree otherwise. I also believe that anyone responsible for paying child support should not have to pay more than the law requires.A layoff, an increase in salary, cost of living increase or a change in child visitation arrangements could all be reasons to seek a change in the child support amount. If your financial or living situation has changed to a significant degree, we should obtain a modification in the support level that will take those changes into account.
Enforcement and Collection
Are you not receiving the support amount that was agreed upon? I can take action to enforce a child support order and obtain collection of back support owed. Remember, child support is for the benefit of your child. The State of California wants you to receive all of the child support to which you are entitled and I am skilled at using the system to get your support enforced and collected.
